Help to Transform Julie's House into a Home

I first met Julie and her daughters at an open house I was hosting back in January. Julie, & her two girls have become so special to me since they walked into that open houses 7 months ago. She’s been looking for over a year, & working with me for 7 months.

I instantly fell in love with her and her girls, and after learning about her story and all that they have been through, I knew I needed to see this through and help them get back on their feet and find them the perfect home for their fresh start.

After a year of hearing nothing but “sorry they’ve gone with another offer”, we finally heard: “it’s yours”.

Julie is a newly single mom who works as the Family Relations Manager for a childcare company where she pours her heart out to the children and their families, and she's looking for a fresh start and just trying to give her girls the world.

She has 2 beautiful daughters, one of whom she just adopted out of foster care after her divorce as a single mother, because she couldn't stand the idea of putting her back into the foster care system.

It’s been an insanely competitive market. We did everything to make her other offers as attractive as possible, but it still wasn’t enough. We live in not only an insanely competitive area, but also one of the most expensive states in the country.

She’s been patient, she’s been strong, she has been unwavering in what she knows her girls deserve. She knew she wanted to find a place that her and her girls could make their own. She wanted a place where they could plant beautiful flowers, have enough space to comfortably have the girls' friends over, and one day host a Christmas party again, and even make a "Winnie the Pooh" themed bathroom per her daughters request.... she never gave up on giving her girls the home they all deserve. Even if that meant they had to continue living with her ex-husband while the house hunt continued.

Sometimes this market felt incredibly defeating… for both of us. We put in close to TWENTY offers on homes in the area. And we were always in second place.

We’ve put in offers on places that were cute, but so small there wasn’t even room for a kitchen table. The house literally had no where to sit and eat as a family. Another one we looked at had been completely destroyed by the seller's animals, and was a total gut job.

We got creative. We thought outside of the box. We looked at rentals, but no one would accept her dog. And she refused to give up the girls' dog. We stayed positive that the right house would find them.

….What a blessing it is that none of those houses worked out, because this one is THE ONE.

Julie deserves this house. She deserves the space to host a Christmas party. She deserves the laundry room. She deserves the big bedroom all to herself, the playroom for her girls, the peaceful back deck, & yard for her girls to run around and plant the garden they've been dreaming of. She deserves this HOME.

It needs A LOT of work, but we’re so excited to roll up our sleeves & make this house a home. The house is strong, it’s solid, it has good bones… it also has lots of blue carpet, holes in the ceiling, a completely gutted bathroom, a half gutted basement, a 1985 original kitchen, and peeling paint. ...But it just needs some love and a little vision.

In order to get this house (or any house for that matter) Julie had to offer at the top of her budget... leaving little room for repairs.

The most important thing is WE GOT THE HOUSE, now it's time to make that house a home.

So we broke it down into phases... sure, the kitchen was 40 years old and the blue carpet was old and not ideal, but it was clean enough and not broken.

But the bathrooms are a MUST for phase 1. With one bathroom having holes in the walls and ceiling, and the flooring peeling up... and the other bathroom isn't really even a bathroom yet as it's currently stripped down to the studs with a hole in the floor.... it is not an ideal living situation for a 4 year old, so that must be done ASAP.

So yes, it needs some work, but otherwise has the space for them to grow, & to live comfortably. It’s the perfect space to start over.

When I shared her story to my instagram, a lot of you offered to help and suggested we make her a Go Fund Me and have her create an amazon wishlist... she here we are!

It truly takes a village and I couldn't think of a better person for our village to rally around! She gives herself so selflessly to everyone in her life, especially her girls. I've always said to her as we were house hunting: "Good things happen to good people. It will all catch up to you. It will all work out". And now is the time for all that goodness to catch back up to her!

I am so proud of this special mama. She’s given up a lot to give her girls the best life possible. She is strong + she is fierce. I’m so excited her next chapter can finally start!

Thank you to all of you who are pitching in to help this sweet mama's dreams come truly. She is beyond grateful for your outpouring of love and support!
