Help Train Lolly and Build Missing in Macon: A Community Effort to Bring Loved Ones Home
Hi, everyone! My name is Jessica Mullis, and I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt mission. Here in Macon, too many families are experiencing the heartbreak of missing loved ones. I’ve seen their pain firsthand, and it’s inspired me to take action.
I started a Facebook page, Missing in Macon, in honor of the countless families searching for answers. My goal is to spread awareness, keep the community informed, and ensure everyone can be on the lookout when someone goes missing. But the need for trained resources in our area is greater than ever.
We currently don’t have many local resources for search teams or specialized search and rescue (SAR) dogs. That’s where my bloodhound, Lolly, comes in. Lolly has a natural talent for tracking, and with professional training, she could help bring missing loved ones home. SAR training, however, is costly—it involves tuition, equipment, and certification—and I need your help to make it possible.
In addition to training Lolly, I’m working hard to transform Missing in Macon from a Facebook group into a nonprofit organization. By doing so, we can create a network of volunteers, provide necessary training, and collaborate with local law enforcement to make a bigger impact.
We’ve set a fundraising goal of $20,000 to cover the following:
1. Search and Rescue Training for Lolly – Costs for professional SAR training, equipment, travel, and certification are estimated to range between $5,000 and $10,000.
2. Establishing Missing in Macon as a Nonprofit – Filing fees, legal consultations, and startup expenses for a 501(c)(3) organization will cost approximately $2,000 to $5,000.
3. Operational Costs – Creating resources for volunteer training, awareness campaigns, and community workshops will require an additional $3,000 to $5,000.
4. Emergency/Contingency Fund – A buffer of $2,000 to $3,000 for unexpected needs, ensuring we can adapt and grow effectively.
I’ve already been working closely with local law enforcement, and this initiative has even gained attention from our local news! Now, I need the help of this amazing community to take this effort to the next level.
I would greatly appreciate any contributions or volunteers who are willing to help me get this mission off the ground. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of so many families.
Thank you for your support and belief in this mission. Lolly and I are ready to make a difference—one step, one scent, and one search at a time.
With gratitude,
Jessica Mullis and Lolly
P.S. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with your friends and family helps us reach more people. Let’s work together to bring loved ones home!
