Every year for the last 5 years, my family has been sponsoring a back-to-school celebration for the kids in York Street, Linstead, Saint Catherine, in Jamaica. These are great kids from hard-working families, but they don't always have everything they need when they start the school year. We raise money to provide them with learning tablets, backpacks and other school supplies. We also put on a fun day, with games, rides, entertainment, and a lot of food. We call it "The Wilson Family Treat." The idea is to build a sense of community, and also to build excitement about education. The Wilson Family Treat has been a big success in past years, growing bigger and bigger every year, because of the many generous donations we've received.
