Meet the Carrolls, a family created through foster care and adoption. Elizabeth and Nathan are high school sweethearts who married in 2005. In 2009, they welcomed their first daughter, Mya (14), and when she was four, they started the adventure of foster care.
First came brothers Landon (17) and Aydin (15) on January 2, 2014. Two weeks later, at 3 months old, Jaxson (11) joined the family, having suffered a traumatic brain injury. After 2 years and three finalized adoptions, the Carrolls were approached by Dauphin County to take a very special 7-year-old from a highly publicized child neglect case (Google Tutko). Braelyn (16) not only suffered for 6 years with her bio family, but she also had a failed adoption attempt. She officially moved in the weekend of her 8th birthday. She has been diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome and she is nonverbal with autism. In the end, every child that entered their home in foster care was adopted until Nathan refused to renew his foster license because 5 is enough! As a side note, they also have adopted 6 cats and a dog because Elizabeth's motto is "what's one more? ♀️"
This GoFundMe has been created because, like many others, the Carrolls and their large family (4 teenagers!) are struggling financially. On top of $500 grocery bills, they have been hit hard in the last few months with large unexpected bills. It started with the water heater going out this spring, then needing to replace the central air unit during the first heatwave this summer. Just this month, Elizabeth hit her first deer in the 10-year-old family car, only to realize while changing car insurances this summer, the box was not checked for collision repairs. The stove and refrigerator started acting up; thanks to Google, they are running for now. Now today (11/22), the family awoke to no heat... they lovingly call it "The Carroll Curse"!
Elizabeth and Nathan struggle to ask for help from others because they know there are always other families struggling more, but every time they get ahead, something happens to push them back down. They are blessed to have well-paying jobs working for extremely supportive employers and working around the clock at odd jobs to bring in extra, but it's just not enough when being hit by so many unexpected expenses in such a short time. Time to put pride aside and ask for help.
So, if you were looking for a family to help this holiday season, we hope you will consider giving your donation to The Carroll Clan. We would be forever grateful. ❤️
✨If by some miracle this fundraiser makes more than what is needed to cover repairs and replacements, the additional funds will be deposited into the children's college funds and/or PA Able Disability Accounts.
If you prefer giving directly, message us for our address or feel free to use Venmo @eacarroll00.
Thank you for your time and support.
God Bless.
