Hello!

I'm running a marathon through the hills of the Lake District and raising funds for a CIC close to my heart. Mafia Weekend CIC recognises the transformative power of nature and collaborative storytelling. They run projects and events combining nature-healing and storytelling - through films and live stories - to support and build resilience in local communities (now based in Bristol). It supports people who are facing mental health issues, social isolation, and disconnection from nature, to improve people's well-being and resilience to climate anxiety.

They are particularly interested in bringing together people of different generations and communities to foster different conversations, and to support looking at the future in alternative ways. As part of a new initiative Create UP! - an intergenerational social action programme - they took a group of young Bristolians (aged 18-20) to Dartmoor for a weekend to build connection with nature, learn outdoor skills, and document their stories through film, with a strong focus on turning fears around climate into inspiring action.

As someone who loves exploring the environment through creativity, and spends as much time as I can in nature (hence the Lake District!), I see huge value in this work. Mafia Weekend is also run by one of my very good friends, who works extremely hard to improve other people's lives and bring people together. Funds raised here will go directly towards :
