This is the story of Gastón Adanto, a Miami-based Latin pop artist originally from Argentina, whose smile continues to shine even after surviving one of the darkest moments of his life.
On July 31, Gastón was unjustly detained by ICE, despite having a legal work permit and pending adjustment of status through marriage He was transferred between facilities—first to what inmates call “Alligator Alcatraz,” then to a detention center in El Paso. Showers were rare, food was scarce, and time became a blur. Yet through it all, his faith never wavered—and neither did his smile.
But not everyone makes it out.
