Donate To Support Green Theater

My name is Maximiliano Fermin, and I am a member at Green Oasis Community Garden in the Lower East Side. This greenspace is beloved by its community and has a rich theatrical history. However, in recent years this theatrical activity has gone down as a result of regular garden maintenance and community outreach. I want to bring theater back to this garden. I have teamed up with a few dozen theater artists to stage the play Widows, written by Ariel Dorfman.

Set in an unnamed country in an unknown time, a village is populated by only women. When the bodies of their men begin surfacing from a river, the women demand justice from their killers. Audiences are invited to gather under the trees to hear to the poetry of the women of the valley, and to witness a shining light on the tragedy of los desaparecidos, victims of enforced disappearances.

We will have our free performance on during the last two weekends of August at Green Oasis Community Garden

The United Nations continually works in many countries today against the issue of enforced disappearance. We will put up the play in August, when the UN observes The International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearance.

We will have free entry to all of our shows, therefore, we need your help to pay our actors. Please consider donating to our production. Any amount helps!

To find out more about the play (including who is in it), check out our website here!

We hope that you might support us make timely theater more accessible.
