The Austin International Drag Festival is approaching its 10th year, but we need your help to make the magic happen.
AIDF recently suffered a massive loss in funding that would have otherwise gone towards the Festival - this was devastating news to receive especially as the event is approaching very quickly. It has been exceptionally difficult to secure funding to begin with because of the current political climate on a state and federal level, as we rely on cultural arts and DEI-centered grants to fund our mission.
As a nonprofit organization, we have used city and federal grants to support our mission, but this time, we did not receive funding from a major grant that we applied for. We are asking for our community, allies and supporters of our mission to help us bring the magic of LGBTQIA+ art to Austin, TX this year. It is now more crucial than ever to provide work opportunities for queer artists that we support, especially those who pursue drag and performing arts full time.
Through the start of the Festival, we are asking for your help to raise $40,000 to support the Festival and bring work to hundreds of underrepresented drag artists local to Central Texas and around the globe. Your donations will go directly towards paying artist booking fees, and providing lodging for performers for the duration of the Festival, which is the bulk of the costs associated with putting on the event. It has always been about funding the artists that make our Festival grow and become more vibrant every year, and we believe we can make this happen with your help.
To show our appreciation for your donations, we will be commemorating all donors who contribute to this cause on our sponsor lists that we will be posting on our social media. We are thankful for the value you bring to supporting the Festival in any way you can.
Thank you for your time and consideration - the show must go on.
With gratitude,
