I want to take you on a journey through time..

As you may or may not already know, my name is Stacy Kobert and I’ve spent my entire life as a native-born citizen of the United States of America. I passionately believe in the principles of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and the constant pursuit of happiness.

I am writing to you on my 13th anniversary as a breast cancer survivor. Diagnosed in October of 2011with an uncommonly rare combination of two extremely aggressive types of invasive duct Al carcinoma: Triple Negative and HR-Positive HER2 Negative. In relation to this traumatic experience, I discovered it was then when I found my most inner strength.

Originally from the Greater Pittsburgh area, I moved to Florida in 2010 with my youngest daughter, Jalene who was entering 1st grade.I diligently began networking within the community and successfully set up myself as an Independent Contractor in the Fitness Industry offering various modalities of classes including: Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumba Step, Aqua Zumba, STRONG, kickboxing Aerobics, and Beat IT ( a Boxing aerobic program).

It was during the onset of the 2020 Pandemic my personal and professional life began to drastically change. It was at this point I realized how much life really is a journey. It was during this time, I lost a close friend, lost a job due to not being fully vaccinated, my parent’s vacation in Florida abruptly ended, my daughter who was 18 at that time and attending Florida Virtual School, moved out of the house. At the same time, I moved into a new neighborhood and thus surrendering my flock of exotic backyard chickens, along with my two goats and three ducks. This was all preceded by mandatory lockdowns, the wearing of face masks, a new dystopian world of virtual reality, remote work, and social distancing.

Step by step, I embraced the pace of the journey and began picking up the broken pieces as I began a new role as a group fitness coordinator for a neighboring community with Elevation Health managed remotely from Colorado. I reset my goals, passing the AFFA/NASM Group Fitness Instructor certification and later took on another part-time group fitness coordinating position with Crunch Fitness, Fort Myers.

Subsequently, I reunited with Jalene, who will soon be turning 21 in December, after moving back into the downtown Edison Ford Winter Estate area of Fort Myers where she had attended middle school. This would be my 10th time of relocation since I moved to Florida. At which time, I decided to take a step down as the Group Fitness coordinator at Elevation Health after my one-year anniversary and focus on my job at Crunch Fitness. I continued to teach classes as well as keep my independent contractor position within the community.

I am sharing my story with you because I am at a crossroads in my life. Upon being employed for close to a year at Crunch Fitness, I lost my position as Group Fitness Coordinator on 4/29/2024, just four months after moving into downtown Fort Myers to be closer to my daughter. On one hand, I have received an answer to a prayer, but on the other I am frozen someplace in the sands of time and on the precipice of losing everything I have been striving to achieve over the past decade and a half here in Southwest Florida.

This is the reason I am requesting a call for action today amidst my crises. I have diligently sought help from the following agencies, resulting in no funds available at this time :

•FEMA
