My Mission -

My name is Shaleen Thiengmany, and I've pledged to run the 2025 Chicago Marathon and fundraise $2,100 for the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls charity running team! The race is scheduled for October 12, 2025.

A Little About Me -

As some of you may know, I grew up in a small town in Iowa and moved to California to pursue a degree in engineering!

I recently graduated with my master's, and looking back at my journey, I'm beyond thankful for the sacrifices my immigrant parents made, the small-town community that helped shape me, and the support of my friends, family, and mentors that helped get me to where I am today.

I've been incredibly fortunate. And now that I've graduated, I wanted to take this opportunity to give back — Life has its ups and downs.. and during the pandemic, I began running as a way to center myself.

As someone who ran their first marathon with hardly any experience and, similarly, as a first-generation student now engineer, it takes some dreaming. Running makes me feel like I could do anything — and I would love to share that feeling by empowering others as well while I do so, at the Chicago Marathon this October :)

About Mercy Home -

Mercy Home is a youth development charity. For over 135 years, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls has been dedicated to supporting Chicago’s youth. It provides a safe, loving home for children overcoming abuse, neglect, or violence, while offering the care, education, and guidance they need to thrive and build brighter futures.
