My name is Colin Magruder, I have been lucky to work in this industry for 15+ years. I have known Steve my entire career and have always considered Steve a great friend, a phenomenal mentor and most importantly, a good golfer! Steve has always been someone I can rely on for help both in and outside the office, and right now there is nothing more important than helping my friend.

As some of you in the industry may know, Steven Conneen has been fighting a battle with aggressive cancer. Three years ago, Steve was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, which has one of the highest mortality rates. He has fought valiantly with his family at his side supporting him through every step and procedure. While undergoing treatment, Steve has experienced permanent negative side effects. This has diminished his ability to work, ability to drive, and many other daily functions we take for granted. Steve’s cancer has unfortunately metastasized in his liver, which has now become the greater concern.

Steve’s greatest concern right now is his family, and the legacy and financial support he leaves behind for them. Steve and his wife Sue purchased their dream home three years ago for their children Benjamin, Abigail, John and Gracie, and loving family dog Bailey. Steve’s family home has become the perfect location for healing and respite, on a cul-de-sac, surrounded by conservation land and the sounds of wildlife, creating the perfect sense of serenity. While no one’s future is guaranteed, we do hope for the best for Steve. Weighing heavily on his mind is the financial future of his wife Sue and their four loving children.

Of course, Steve’s wish is to live forever with his family in their lifetime home. The financial circumstances driven by cancer treatment have increasingly made this difficult. We are creating this fundraiser to help support Steve and his family in their greatest time of need. To many of us, Steve has been a friend, a colleague and a mentor. Steve’s knowledge of our industry is unparallelled, as is his caring for those around him. There are not many people like Steve, and that is why we are asking for help to support a man that has devoted his life to helping others.
