As I was walking my dog at the park a week ago, I met Shawn and Ed. They are a newly unhoused couple who lost their home two months ago. Ever since then, they have been sleeping in the park. There have been many days of rain and with the colder days quickly approaching, I want to help get them into a warm bed. They have been affected by the SNAP shutdown as well.

I sponsored warm meals and snacks for the last week and was able to get support from an amazing group of women who helped me provide food, pay their phone bill, blankets, sweaters, gloves, and hats.

The main hurdle right now is getting them into a motel/hotel or an apartment if possible to stabilize their situation. Ed has been a dog groomer for most of his life and is open to working once he heals from being hit by a car near the park.
