3 years ago, Sam learned her husband of 12 years was having an affair and leaving the marriage. The explanation was cold and short, but he made it clear he wanted the assets immediately divided.

Luckily, Sam was given time to gather enough funds to buy this bro out of his half of their home, and she’s saved a significant amount… yet it isn’t enough. She’s in need of $76,000 in the next four weeks or she’ll be forced to sell her home and relocate her life (and the lives of her two pups and cat).

We (as a group of friends) believe Sam has been dealt a shitty card and deserves to keep her home. It would also feel really good to just spite the ex. Please help Sam with whatever you can.

Since the divorce I've managed to bring my mortgage back into good standing after years of my ex's mis management (he allowed our home to approach foreclosure twice).

I have secured two years of solo tax fillings to prove my financial stability as a freelance artist.

With the help of family I paid off all of our joint debt.

I rebuilt my credit from 590 at the time of the divorce (I know I shouldn't have trusted him with so much of our finances, especially with pretty much everything in my name) to over 730.

All of this in the hopes of securing financing to pay off his court approved share of the equity in my home. The court placed a lien against the property to secure his claim. And that lien has prevented me from securing a HELOC or second mortgage.

I am actively reaching out to credit unions and exploring other refinancing options. I will likely be pulling a loan out against my 403b which I thankfully was able to keep intact though he attempted to secure a percentage of that a well. Though it will be no where near enough.

I do not wish to speak ill of him. I did sincerely love him and my world shattered to learn of his infidelity and desire to leave our marriage of 12 years. I want to move on with some level of peace and security fully absent of any continued ties to him.
