Hello! My name is Kameko H. My son was diagnosed with Schizophrenia in December of last year. For those that don't know, Schizophrenia causes paranoia and auditory and/or visual hallucinations. In my son's case he hears voices. Voices that tells him do do things. In January while in a stage of Psychosis he assaulted a stranger. Instead of going to a hospital the officers took him to jail. He is supposed to be sent to a mental hospital. But in Texas there are only 3. The state would rather put money into the prisons instead of putting money into mental health institutions. Even though after Covid-19, mental illness has been on the rise. I'm asking for help for legal fees towards helping to fight to get my son into a hospital sooner than later so that his mental health doesn't deteriorate while waiting on a hospital bed.
