As many of you may know, I have custody of my 7 year old grandson and he has lived with me since January of 2020. Carter is hands down one of the most loving, kind hearted, smart, vibrant, goofy, and just all around wonderful kid I have ever been around. He blessed my family and our home at such a young age and has taught us all so much about life and raising a boy! lol it was a whole new world to me. Overall it was a new adventure my family and I were excited to embrace! Carter’s birth mother has had very little contact with him since 2020 and has not seen him since July of 2021 and the last time she has even tried to make any contact was January of 2023.

I received paperwork last week from Family Court that I had an upcoming Court Date scheduled for May 7 @ 9am. She obtained an Attorney here in Pike County and has filed a motion to establish a set visitation schedule with the intention of gaining permanent custody.

I was advised by the Child Support Agency and Courts that I should definitely seek representation immediately. I found a highly recommended Attorney that is willing to help us fight for Carter, however, his fees total $3500 and he is seeking at least half of that to be paid by no later than Monday, May 5th. I unfortunately do not have the means to do that alone right now. Anything that anyone would be willing to help with would go directly towards the attorney and process to keep Carter home. I am praying that through the help of any donation made that we will be able to meet the ultimate goal of keeping Carter home where he belongs, is safe and loved more than anything else.
