Help My Sister’s Family Start a New Life in Luxembourg

Hi, my name is Patty Reidel, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my sister Gabriella, her husband, and their four young children — Theo (9), Mikey (7), Hannah (5), and Elijah (3). They are a loving, hardworking family facing urgent circumstances in the U.S. and need help relocating to Luxembourg until the end of June to protect their unity, dignity, and future.

With the new “Homecoming Project” proposed by President Trump, undocumented immigrants are being pressured to self-deport within 60 days. Gabriella and her husband — who have lived, worked, and raised their children in the U.S. for over a decade — made the difficult but courageous decision to leave together as a family to avoid detention or separation from their U.S.-citizen children.

Why Luxembourg?

Gabriella holds Luxembourgish citizenship by descent, giving the family a legal path to rebuild their lives in safety. In Luxembourg, they can finally access health care, education, and a stable environment where the children can grow up free of fear. Gabriella is a passionate English teacher and artist, committed to helping others and contributing to her new community.

Life in the U.S. Has Been Anything But Easy

For years, the family has struggled with uncertainty and hardship. They’ve lived with constant fear of deportation, financial instability, and limited access to basic rights. Most recently, their only car was repossessed, making it even harder to work or move forward. Despite these challenges, they’ve remained strong and united, doing everything they can for their kids.

Now, they are choosing hope — taking a leap toward a future where they can live legally, peacefully, and with opportunity.

What Your Support Will Help Cover

Although the U.S. may cover airfare for undocumented adults, the children’s tickets likely won’t be included. On top of that, they’ll need to secure housing, essentials, and documents to make the transition possible.

Estimated costs:
• Plane tickets for 4 (in case children’s aren’t covered) – $2,400
• Checked luggage and travel needs – $600
• Expedited U.S. passports for 4 children – $960
• Gabriella’s Luxembourg passport fee – $80
• Security deposit, first month’s rent, and realtor fee – $5,000
• Basic living expenses (food, transport, communication) – $3,000
• Mattresses, blankets, and pillows for everyone – $800
• Emergency reserve – $1,000

Total goal: $13,840

Why Now

This move must happen quickly — the family has less than two months to prepare, organize documents, and leave voluntarily. If they wait too long, they risk forced separation or legal consequences. They are choosing to leave behind everything they know for the sake of their children’s future.

Your donation, no matter how small, will help them leave with dignity, arrive safely, and rebuild with the basics they need.

If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this campaign. Your support could change this family’s life forever.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and belief in new beginnings.
