My name is Mary and I'm raising money for a coworker and friend, April, for surgery and personal expenses. April has been struggling with multiple medical issues while working two full-time jobs and going to school for business administration. She also has a degree in counseling so that she can help others who are struggling. Her husband recently lost his job, a much-needed source of income for their family. He has been looking for a steady job and has been driving for Uber in the meantime.

Recently, April developed an infection in her left ear. Because of allergies to antibiotics usually used to treat this, the infection caused her to develop a perforation in her eardrum. She has been dealing with this for four whole months. April is to undergo surgery (tympanoplasty with cartilage graft) on September 2nd, 2025, so that she can avoid losing her hearing completely. While dealing with all of this, she developed another infection in her other ear, causing her to miss work. She has been facing many other interpersonal, medical, and financial challenges, making it difficult for her to come up with the funds for surgery. She will need to take a leave of absence with no pay at her job at Food 4 Less while recovering, as there will be many restrictions in order for her to heal properly. She also does not currently have PTO there because of missing work in the past due to medical problems. She does not have short-term disability available to her. We all know how difficult it can be to ask for help, but April is in dire need of assistance.
