Hi everyone,
Hi, I am the daughter of two parents who were refugees from the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1991. Growing up, war was something I always understood, it shaped my family’s history and deeply connected me to the struggles of displaced people.
Nearly a year ago, Sameh, a 19-year-old from Gaza, found me through Instagram. He reached out in desperation, sending me videos of what he and his family were going through. We later spoke on a video call, and his reality became painfully clear, his family had lost everything.
Sameh’s Story
Sameh is not just fighting to survive; he is fighting to keep his family safe. He is the backbone of his household, caring for his mother, father, two brothers, sister, and young niece in the midst of war and devastation. They lost their home and, for a time, had nowhere to go but a tent.
Thanks to your generosity, Sameh was able to secure a small home for his family. It’s not perfect, but it’s a step up from living in a tent. However, even this progress has come with heartbreaking setbacks, landlords in Gaza are price gouging, raising rents as more and more families are left homeless. The first home they secured was suddenly made unaffordable when the landlord found someone willing to pay more.
Sameh managed to find another place, but at $340 per month, it’s a massive burden for a family with nothing. They are doing their best to clean and organize, but the reality is that they need ongoing support to stay housed and fed.
How Your Donation Helps
$10-$50 provides food for the family.
$200 buys just 1 kilo of flour—due to extreme shortages, food costs are unimaginably high.
$340 covers one month of rent, ensuring they stay sheltered.
$5,000 per person is required to secure refugee status if they ever get the chance to leave.
With war still raging, the cost of rent, food, and basic necessities continues to rise. Every single dollar makes a difference in keeping this family safe.
If you can, please donate. If you've already given, THANK YOU, your generosity has given this family a home. Even if you can’t contribute, sharing this fundraiser can help reach someone who can.
Sameh and his family are incredibly grateful for this community. Let’s keep showing up for them.
Thank you for your love and support. Free Palestine.
