Donate to Safety Over Shame (sh safety kits)!

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Gabby! I created Safety Over Shame this year to support people who have also struggled with self-harm. I know that first aid supplies can be expensive, and more pervasively, I know that the shame and stigma that comes along with self-harm make it harder to seek help, take care of ourselves, and stay safe. I created this initiative to prioritize harm reduction and destigmatize self-harm in the hopes that people will have an easier time taking care of themselves and finding healthier coping mechanisms.

I purchased items for the Pride Picnic out of pocket (approx. $500) and unfortunately only had 100 for this time around. The kits were also smaller than I've had them in the past since I didn't have funding. I would appreciate any financial support to:

1) Make back the funds spent on the Pride Picnic kits,
2) Receive a boost for future kits and have enough money for more kits this summer and,
3) Offer delivery options and pay-to-ship kits for those who cannot pick them up.

Please note that the donation goal is just a suggested goal for donations and will not be my only source of funding. I will be seeking partnerships with mental health organizations in the city and pursuing other methods of funding as well. The more, the merrier, though! I would love to have enough to offer more supplies per/person. A portion of the funds will go towards paying back the expenses spent on the Pride Picnic kits.

Anything that you are willing to spare (even a few dollars!) will help me provide more resources in the future and go towards this initiative.

Not sure if you can trust this money will go to use? Totally understandable! Let me share more. . .

I first started creating these kits last summer at Toronto Metropolitan Student's Union as an equity service centre coordinator. I was a mental health coordinator entrusted to make budgets, create resources, and use student funding toward mental health initiatives. I understand how to make the most of a budget. I'm in an entrepreneurship-related university program and have learned how to execute a project. I also do extensive market research and create surveys for those who want kits to get up-to-date information on what supplies are most necessary and how to prioritize supplies. Depending on how many resources are included, kits can be made for around $5 - $10 per kit.

If you decide to donate and would like to see a copy of my next budget for transparency, feel free to mention that in your donation message or send me a message on Instagram (@safetyovershame) and I'd be happy to keep you in the loop!

Thank you so much and I hope to support you soon :)
