Donate to Roof Chiurai School in Gokwe
Donation protected
My name is Maud Chifamba. I am a second-year MBA student at The Wharton School, in the United States.
TLDR - We are trying to raise $3,000 to roof the classroom block pictured in Gokwe, Zimbabwe, which we have been building as a community for the past 2 years.
The long story: Chiurai is a Primary School in Gokwe, about 35km from Gokwe Centre. It has a total enrollment of 370 students. I was one of them 21 years ago.
In the quotation below, we have gone past the trusses stage and are now focused on roofing. For this, we need the $3,000, and that is inclusive of transporting the sheets to the school.
More about the school
The school has a total of 8 classrooms functioning, of which only 4 meet the minimum standard requirements, while the other 4 are disasters waiting to happen. The authorities ordered the other building destroyed due to dilapidation.
We have 2 classrooms under construction by the Chiurai Old Students Association. So far, over the past 2 years, we have worked together with the community to build this block which has 2 classrooms. We hope to get this block up and running so that the community can benefit from it.
This $3,000 is for up to the roofing only. Beyond roofing, we will need to plaster it, paint, and furnish it; which is where all extra amounts (if any) will go.
The community in Chiurai thanks you
