Help Restore Comfort for a Frankton Family

Donation protected
Hello!

Our Special Education staff has come together and would like to help a family that is near and dear to our hearts.

The Life Skills and Functional Academics are special education programs that begin at the 7th grade level and these students will remain in the program until they graduate. These students earn units within the general education classrooms in order to graduate with an alternate diploma or certificate, they receive individualized reading and math lessons as well as life skills and independent living instruction. On top of all of this, these kids are out in the community. We provide community outings monthly to work on social skills in a local setting such as a restaurant or a grocery store! They also work with a job coach to volunteer and work weekly (sometimes even at paid positions!) with community partners in order to create a substantial resume as well as hone in on their personal interests before they enter into the real world after leaving our programs.
To sum it up, these kiddos are some of the most hardworking kids we know!

Having these students for multiple years as well as communicating with their families (sometimes daily!) we quickly become family ourselves. The bonds we create with our students and their families/caregivers is something that we cherish.

Now a part of our little family is in great need. This family has been a part of our program for the last 4 years. They have recently learned that they are infested with bed bugs. After learning this they attempted to get rid of this issue themselves, but to no avail. They then reached out to an exterminator who came out to inspect the home. It was found that it was a total infestation, meaning that they would have to throw several items away as well as purchase an extensive treatment. This treatment is an initial treatment with 6 following treatments being done over the course of the next 6 months. This treatment costs $2,500 in total. The treatment cost does not include the amount of items that they will have to throw out and that will need to be replaced. We would like to raise enough money to help with the cost of this treatment as well as help them to purchase new items needing to be thrown out such as mattresses, pillows and bedding.

All we want is for this precious family to be able to afford a treatment that is dire to not only their health but the comfort and happiness of the girls that they care for and that attend both schools within our community.
