Hi everyone, Chelsey here.
I'm heartbroken to share that early this morning, GirlCoded was broken into—again. If you've been following us for a while, you may know this has happened three other times in the past two years. I always try to stay optimistic, to pick up the pieces quietly and move forward. But this time, it's harder.
Walking into the shop today, I was completely at a loss. A space I’ve poured my heart into was ransacked. Our racks were emptied. So many of the curated vintage pieces we’ve worked hard to find and share with you were stolen. On top of that, the electronics we rely on to run our day-to-day operations were also taken.
GirlCoded has never been just a business to me. It’s a passion project—a safe space where people could come to feel inspired, seen, and connected. A place to express yourself, find something special, and maybe even form lifelong friendships. To see it violated this way hurts more than I can explain.
As of today, the shop will be closed while we clean up, regroup, and figure out our next steps. We truly can’t afford to stay closed for long, so please bear with us as we work to fill our racks and rebuild.
I am not one to ask for help in moments like this but it’s difficult to ignore the financial challenges we will face in replacing what was taken. If you feel it in your heart to support us financially, we’ve created a GoFundMe and linked our Venmo in the next slide. Donations will go directly toward replacing stolen inventory, broken glass, essential equipment, and helping us reopen safely and sustainably. Every bit of support helps—whether it's a donation, a share, or even just sending a kind word our way.
Thank you for being part of this community. I’m so grateful for you all.
With love,
Chelsey
