Happy Holidays, everyone!
We ran this fundraiser in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2024 raising $3,500, $6,000, $8,200, and $10,542 respectively. We’re excited to focus our efforts on running this fundraiser again and setting an even more ambitious goal: $15,000!
This higher goal will help serve so many more people. Your contributions will go toward providing local non-profit organizations with the in-kind donations they need to serve our community.
Additionally, I found a local organization that has been supporting those who lost access to their SNAP benefits as a result of the government shutdown.
Here is more information about the what organizations we’re partnering with need:
- A Bay Area-based women and children’s domestic abuse shelter (the name needs to stay anonymous for their protection) is asking for new stuffed animals, blankets, and Target, Walmart, or Safeway gift cards.
- Abode is asking for new bath towel sets, bed sets, personal care/hygiene products, socks and gloves, board games, chapter and coloring books, Legos, Pokemon, and STEM Kits.
- Hope’s Corner and Lighthouse Food Rescue & Distribution are asking for food and drinks.
- Swords to Plowshares has a need for frozen and non-perishable foods as well as clothing. So, if you have any coats or jeans you no longer use/wear that are in good condition and washed, we can coordinate a dropoff to my house.
We will also be creating care packages to hand out to individuals facing homelessness. The care packages will consist of items that not everyone has the luxury of using on a daily basis, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, hand sanitizer, bandages, q-tips, floss, lotion, feminine hygiene products, and more. For reference, last year, we created 215 care packages with an average cost of $17.43 per bag.
BUT, we need your help. Every dollar counts. We’d really appreciate it if you’d share the message with your friends and family members. The more awareness we can bring to this campaign, the bigger impact we can make in our community!
We are so grateful for your support year after year in bringing this campaign to life and helping hundreds of members in our community.
If you’re interested in helping put together or pass out the care packages, feel free to reach out to Shailla for more information.
Thank you for your support!
