We’re all going through hard times right now, but for millions of people, this holiday season will be even harder.
My name is Brittnee and I live in Fallon, NV - a small community made up primarily of military families, veterans, and hardworking people who should never have to struggle to feed their families. But with the government shutdown and SNAP benefits being cut, many of these families are currently going without pay or assistance.
My husband and I volunteer at a local kitchen every Thanksgiving, but this year I want to do a little more. I’m putting together 20 Thanksgiving meal boxes for local families in need. Each box will feed 4–6 people and include:
Mashed potatoes
Stuffing
Veggies
Rolls
Cranberry sauce
Gravy
Hot chocolate & apple cider (because everyone deserves a little warmth)
I’m covering the cost of the basic sides, but I’d love to add a grocery gift card to each box so families can choose their own main dish (turkey, chicken, ham, etc.). I also hope to make a few baby care bags with formula and baby food for families with infants.
How your contribution can help:
$5 = helps fill a box with holiday sides
$15 = provides a main dish for one family
$25 = covers 1 can of formula + baby food
Goal: 20 boxes, 10 Baby Bags
Distribution: Week of Thanksgiving
Every cent goes directly to food and supplies to be handed out to local Fallon families in need.
Even the smallest acts of kindness can ripple out in big ways. Let’s make this Thanksgiving a little warmer for the families who need it most.
