Kids are walking into Pride events this month.

Protesters are showing up too.

Parasol Patrol makes sure the kids don’t have to carry that.

We are the Parasol Patrol, a nonprofit of trained volunteers who peacefully shield children and young people from harassment at LGBTQIA2+ and BIPOC events.

We don’t engage with protesters.

We don’t escalate.

We create a visual and emotional barrier so kids can just be kids.

With bright umbrellas, we block hateful signs.

With kid-sized hearing protection, we soften shouted slurs and bullhorns.

Most of the time, the kids never even know what was being said.

That’s the point.

Pride season is here.

And in today’s political climate, attacks on queer people, especially trans kids, aren’t just happening in legislation… they’re showing up at schools, libraries, and community events.

We are already being called to more events than ever before:

· Pride festivals & marches

· Youth Pride Proms

· Graduations targeted by extremist groups

· Drag story times & all-ages shows

· Trans Day of Remembrance, Club Q & vigils

We support 10+ events every month, and that number is rising fast. During the summer, it's easily 10+ events a week!

Your donation directly funds:

· ☂️ Umbrellas (they break, get lost, and we always need more)

· Kid-sized noise protection

· First aid & trauma kits

· Safety vests for visibility

· Radios for coordination

· Water & hydration supplies

· Pride booth & festival fees (often hundreds per event)

· Printed outreach materials

· Batteries, chargers, and gear

· Travel support for volunteers

· Sunscreen, weather protection, and basic care supplies

· Snacks for kids and volunteers

Our base operational cost is about $2,000/month, before major Pride events stack up.

· $10 = Ear protection for a child

· $25 = Supplies for a volunteer shift

· $50 = Helps cover a Pride event booth

· $100+ = Helps us fully equip a current team on the ground

Recent coordinated attacks on our platforms have disrupted our fundraising and outreach.

At the same time, demand for our presence is increasing.
