Hello! My name is Ava Mateo, and I am an upcoming Senior at West Orange! For several months now I have been planning on creating a communal garden at my school. Right now, me and a group are ready to construct the garden, and originally, we were all going to pitch in, but it had begun to run a bit costly for everyone to help out. Our goal is to make an unused space into a productive garden and foster a fun and engaging environment among our peers! The garden would grow a variety of vegetables, fruits, and anyone can take what they'd like! Because the garden is larger scale, we are seeking funding in order to properly complete it.
- What will my funding go toward?
Your money will be going towards construction materials, seeds, soil, and tools.
- Why so much money?
A multitude of factors contribute to this, but mostly material cost. The garden is planned to be, at most, 12 feet long, and around a foot tall. In order for a majority of plants to grow properly, they need proper depth and space! Additionally, we are trying to use materials that are weather resistant and can withstand Florida conditions, (apparently that is expensive.) We want to do this right.
- What's the point?
It's fun! Everybody has access to fresh fruits and vegetables, whether that be used for cooking, snacking, or whatever!
Anything helps
THANK YOU!
