My name is Estefania Esmeralda and I, along with beloved friends and family members, run a mutual aid collective called no estas soLA. Every Thursday and Saturday, we meet in my living room, sort out food donations to create care packages, and then deliver to families all across LA County and surrounding cities. We know that public funds are being cut all across the nation including food benefits. Currently we have 120 families that we serve including our seniors, local food vendors, single moms, families at risk of becoming homeless. The families that register to our program are families that are the most isolated families lacking access to public resources for many reasons. We use a rotation system with serving 30-50 families on a weekly basis. The # of home visits vary depending on how many food donations we get on that given week. We are opening a gofundme to provide a pay-it-forward opportunity. The funds will be used to purchase essential items for the entire family including our fur babies.

This is a giving opportunity for folks that have had the desire to help but can't necessarily do deliveries too! So far we have been able to do 300 home visit deliveries thanks to friends' donations and local food banks. This is a movement grounded in love and compassion for the people living in the margins. We know the need is going to be long term. On average, we spend $50 per family that includes dairy products, toilet paper, snacks for the kids, and meat. Any amount is appreciated!!!
