We are building Luminosas Wellness Collective: a nonprofit, community-rooted sexual and reproductive health clinic in Hudson County, New Jersey.

In post-Roe America, abortion bans are forcing more patients to delay care later into pregnancy, while others are being criminalized for their pregnancy outcomes. Providers are burning out or being pushed out of the field altogether. We are building a clinic to provide compassionate care for our communities—especially for those who have often been left behind.

Why Hudson County, NJ?

There is no abortion clinic in Hudson County.

There is only one provider of gender-affirming care.

Accessible to New York City.

New Jersey is one of only nine states with no arbitrary gestational limits on abortion.

Who’s Behind Luminosas?

Dr. Kristyn Brandi and Cathy Obando, APN: two sexual and reproductive health clinicians working on the frontlines delivering care, both first-generation immigrants, both Jersey born and raised, and both tired of working inside broken systems.

Kris has been an abortion provider for over a decade, a national policy leader, and former Board Chair of Physicians for Reproductive Health.

Cathy made history as the first nurse practitioner in NJ trained to provide procedural abortions, and currently serves on the Board of the National Abortion Federation.

We are working toward a $3 million campaign to open our community clinic by Summer 2026. Thanks to early commitments, we already have over $750,000 pledged in grants and are in conversation with additional funders.

Right now our most urgent need is raising $350,000 by the end of 2025 to secure clinic space. We’ve already raised more than $18,000 in small-dollar gifts and secured a $150,000 committed grant, and every contribution brings us closer to unlocking this next milestone.
