Logan’s Eagle Scout Project- Duffle Bags for Foster Kids

My name is Logan Martin, and I am currently a sophomore at Lockport High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 63 in Lockport. As part of my journey to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, I am seeking the opportunity to complete my Eagle Scout project with One Family Illinois.
For my project, I would love to support the children currently in the care—and those who will enter the care of One Family. My goal is to collect duffle bags filled with essential items for foster children. I plan to engage local businesses, families, and community members to contribute to this meaningful journey!
Many of you may not know but children taken into foster care are often handed a garbage bag to fill with items to bring with them. I want every child to have a bag filled with essentials and a bag that is their own. I am accepting donations of monetary collection, duffle bags and small suitcases, along with any of the below items:
The age range varies in the homes. Most are school aged. But that can range from 1st grade to 12th. The coordinator specifically said younger school children.
A book
Stuffed animal
Journal
Pens and pencils
Blanket
Socks
A fast food gift card or two for a meal
Small toy
A sports item
Deck of Cards or card game
Puzzle or game
Toiletry set (shampoo, conditioner, tooth brush, toothpaste, deodorant, hair brush)
And a picture frame (requested by the facility for kids who grabbed a photo of their family)
And a personalized card with positive thought’s

This project is close to my heart. I believe every child deserves something of their own during a time of transition—and a duffle bag filled with personal items can provide a sense of comfort, dignity, and belonging.

Funds will be used to purchase duffle bags. I will be working on donations for inside the bags.
