I have always been intrigued by horses. The way they move, communicate, look, and much more. I wanted to start riding horses at a young age. For my 6th birthday I got my very first trial lesson and a birthday party at the horse barn. It has been 6 years and I am still going. I lease a horse named Colette and she is one of the best things that has happened to me. I believe that all horses should be treated like a member of the family. Unfortunately, that is not the case for many horses. For my bat mitzvah project I have decided to try to collect money for an organization named Equine Advocates. At Equine Advocates they use the money that you give them to save horses from abuse and slaughter.  Earlier this year my mom and I took a trip to see the farm. It was beautiful and I feel even more compelled to do my project there now. While I was there I met a pony named Tina. Tina was born in 2013. Her mom passed away at birth. Because of that she did not receive the correct amount of her mother’s milk in the first 72 hours and she is much smaller than she should be. Tina was rescued from a friend of the organization. Later on they learned that she was half blind in her left eye also due to not enough milk as a baby. After being checked out by the vet they decided to get it surgically removed. What I loved about Tina is even after all of those struggles she was still happy, sweet, and very adorable. For my project I want to sponsor her. That means the money you put into this fund goes to some of her vet bills, food, and other supplies to keep Tina in a safe place for the rest of her life. Thank you so much.
