Help create Isabel and Neko's Family Dream

After 12+ years of love, companionship, and adventures, we’re finally ready to start a family!

We are Isabel (she/her) and Neko (they/them)

Pregnancy Plan -

With great intention, we are making the choice to cross this threshold into parenthood. In order for us to do so, we need your help! Our first step is to purchase a sperm donation for a simple ICI (intracervical insemination) or IUI (intrauterine insemination). The average cost of a single sperm donation from the two sperm banks we have decided to use is about $2000.

After that, the next big ticket item is employing a midwife for prenatal and postnatal care because we highly value a holistic care model to accompany the methods of western medicine.

As Isabel is an entrepreneur, she will continue to work as needed throughout pregnancy and postpartum but if there are any leftover funds, that money will go toward cost of living offering her parental leave.

Isabel -

At my core I am a creative and nurturing spirit who has always known that motherhood would be a part of my path. Growing up in a big community and even bigger family has instilled a sense of trust and acceptance when embarking on this new chapter with Neko.

I understand that life is full of the unexpected and the only way for me to navigate it is with my own sense of groundedness and Neko’s innate ability to bring levity to any situation.

I know we will bring so much love, joy and acceptance to a child’s life because we have developed a strong sense of who we are as a couple as well as individually. Together we value exploration, laughter, self expression and we understand that life is what you make of it.

Neko-

I love cooking, especially for people I care about. People who know me would say that I’m thoughtful, silly, the right amount of grumpy because I give serious dad vibes.

I’ve always known that raising a baby with Isabel is going to be our greatest and most fulfilling adventure together. I’m really looking forward to seeing our love manifested in a tiny-little-nugget and having that love shared with our friends and family.

History -

We met in San Francisco while in grad school studying photography in 2011. It wasn’t love at first sight but more a series of misinterpretations which somehow dissipated from one semester to the next. We bonded quickly once the air cleared and established our connection outside of class while on a day trip from San Francisco to Santa Cruz on Halloween weekend.

We easily fell into a loving partnership that felt so abundant we often opened our home to friends and family for a spontaneous bbq, holiday party or hang sesh, adopting many strays into our ever-growing circle of friends who have since become our extended family.

Over the years, we traveled many places exploring the world together and welcoming the unexpected, embracing the adventure, especially through food and art.

In 2018, we made the decision to move to Sacramento to be closer to family and to explore other career paths. While we navigated some growing pains that were amplified by the pandemic, we have come out even stronger as individuals as well as a couple.

While on a trip to Baja, MX in 2021, Neko proposed to Isabel surrounded by close friends by El Arco near Lovers Beach during sunset and every moment was magical and memorable.

In true Neko/Isabel fashion, a grand wedding is in the works but timing is of the essence when planning a pregnancy. So the journey into parenthood has taken precedence over celebrating their commitment to each other in front of 100 of their favorite people!
