Mason's on a Mission is a non-profit 501.c.3 that travels to Central America (Guatemala for this trip) in order to build masonry stoves for the impoverished, indigenous people. The woman are currently using the very old fashioned 3-stone fire in order to cook and heat their homes. There is no proper ventilation to accomodate these open fires so there is several repercussions from the smoke inhalation not only to the women, but the entire family. Building these stoves will also help with the social standards of women in Central America. As of right now the woman is constantly below eye level to the rest of the family and spend most of the day on their hands and knees.
(The photo above shows the concrete stoves we build with ventilation next to their prior ways of cooking)
I have been given the privilege to return to Guatemala a 8th time in Spring '25 for this amazing and uplifting opportunity to help build these stoves. I plan to make a significant difference in the safety/health and social standards of the women in these impoverished communities.
I am asking for donations in order to supply the funds for the stoves I will be building while over there. I have only been asked to provide the funds for two stoves ($150 a piece/$300 total), however, I would like to donate as much as I am able to raise. I set my goal at $1000 with high hopes I will be able to double and perhaps surpass this amount. Any extra funds I am able to raise for this amazing cause will be used donated directly to Masons on a Mission in order to build these masonry stoves throughout the year.
Best Regards,
Thomas Hill
