When Eric Robert’s mom, Yvonne Roberts, and stepfather, James Burks, became concerned about the education young Eric was receiving in the Philadelphia school system, they took action and reached out to a private school, the Church Farm School (CFS). They arranged for him to be admitted, and this decision would prove to be one of the most important turning points in Eric’s life.
CFS played a foundational role in shaping Eric into the kind, caring, intelligent, and, yes, sweetly mischievous man he became. Eric often spoke of CFS with great fondness, particularly its beautiful, panoramic campus and its extraordinary, multicultural environment. It was here that he developed a love for writing, literature, music, and nature. He fondly recalled his service duties in the CFS chapel, his skill in making bed sheets fit perfectly and tightly, and the clever ways he managed to avoid "unpleasant" chores like feeding the pigs and working in the fields.
Eric’s life was a true reflection of the Church Farm School’s mission and legacy. He embodied the values and spirit of the school, and he was, without a doubt, a blessing to many.
In honor of Eric’s lasting impact and in gratitude for the education that helped shape his life, donations can be made to the Church Farm School. This contribution will help continue the work that so profoundly influenced Eric, and ensure that future generations can benefit from the same transformative experiences.
