Hi, my name is Korey,
Meet Knox, a 4 year old boy who is in ICU in sick kids in Toronto.
On Saturday evening Knox collapsed, While JoJo called 911 doing everything in her power she started CPR. Knox was then rushed to the Owen Sound hospital. Knox receive 20 shocks and continuous CPR. They kept loosing his pulse. Based on the believe diagnosis they believe the stress was causing his heart to fail. It was a vicious cycle of saving him. With the process just sending him into it all over again.
After a quick chat with Dr's there was little hope of Knox making it to London as they gave a 1% chance of making the trip, to where they would not likely perform CPR on the road because didn't think he'd have any brain function and didn't want to risk the staff. Both Kris and Jojo were advised to say their good bye's before Knox's departure to London. they were asked if they wanted the Dr's to unplug him so he could spend his last minutes in mom and dads arms or if we wanted to risk him dying alone in the ambulance. At this time they gave Knox 1 last drug before transporting him to London.
In amazement, Knox beat the 1% odds and made it to London, with his heart beating every minute of the trip. The Dr's immediately got to work doing every thing they can. But they noticed the drug that Knox was on was creating toxicity. so they needed to change the drug Knox was on. It was unclear weather it was going to be life saving or not. With risk's involved at changing these drugs, a cardiac team at sick kids agreed that it was best to transfer Know to Toronto, so he was near equipment needed incase he were to go into arrest again.
Sunday night they transported my nephew to sick kids, to where they immediately started to switch his meds. unknown how he would react to the switch. odds where very low of the switch would go well. but once again the little man Knox beat the slim odds, and made it through the night. Monday came and they did some testing and the tests reveled that he has a heart condition CPVT. (catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia).
Tuesday came, and the Dr's did some MRI's to check for brain function and heart, And yes little man Knox beat the odds yet again!!! with no signs of brain, or heart damage. which is the best news any parent in this situation can ever have!!! after the results came in the Dr's discussed of waking Knox up the following day (Wednesday)
While all this is happening there been friends and family helping around the clock with their other child, and their 3 dogs.
Any kind of donations would be very helpful to help with the long recovery that Knox is going to endure. every single penny will be going towards Knox's medical expenses, medication's, travel costs (back and forth to specialists), hotels (Ronald McDonald house in full ATM)as well as some every day expenses to make sure there is always a good safe home for when Knox is released from sick kids.
No amount is too small, and even those who cannot donate can help by sharing this page and/or situation
Our family is grateful to all that can donate, share and pray that Know makes a full speedy recovery and grow up healthy and strong. as every child deserve to have that chance.
Thank you all for your support
