We would like to help Vicki out financially while she supports her twin girls (Keira and Kaley) as they grieve the loss of their dad and Kaley recovers from a life threatening illness in the hospital.
On March 31, 2022 the lives of Vicki and her twin 14 year old girls were changed forever when Brodie, Vicki’s husband and father to the girls, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 43. While dealing with this tragic loss Vicki has been unable to work as her and Brodie took turns caring for their girls while the other worked. Due to Kaley’s health conditions it is hard to find a suitable caretaker.
On May 7, 2022 Vicki’s medically complex daughter Kaley was very Ill and was admitted to the hospital. After many weeks in the hospital and numerous tests later Kaley was finally diagnosed with a life threatening blood infection. Kaley had two surgeries at the Calgary Children’s Hospital to remove possible sites of the infection and then had to be transferred to the Stollery Childrens Hospital in Edmonton. While at the Stollery Kaley underwent open heart surgery to have her pacemaker and conduit (pulmonary valve) replaced.
As Edmonton is a long drive from the families home in Airdrie Vicki and her daughter Keira stayed in Edmonton at the Ronald McDonald House to be close to Kaley.
Kaley’s surgeries were successful however she still has a long road ahead of her before she is able to return home. Vicki and Keira spend as much time as possible with Kaley at the hospital, which is a 45 minute commute each way on a good day, making a return to work impossible for Vicki right now. That and the fact that the main source of income for the household has passed away we feel that it would be a great way to relieve some of Vicki’s stress by helping out anyway we can.
Thank you for your time and donation if you have chosen to help out, it is greatly appreciated.
