Hello and greetings to all who have taken the time to read, share, and help fundraise for our travel to see our mom. Here’s a short explanation of the situation.
Tuesday 11/25/2025
It was just another day for my mom and sisters at home. My mom had a friend visiting from out of town, my sisters were going about their normal routine, and I was at work for the day, as well as our dad. My mom saw her friend out the door around 11:30 am when she began having a coughing fit. When the fit subsided, she was still waiting at the door, silent and unresponsive to my sister, and she hadn’t closed the door. My sister Sara asked if she was okay, but she didn’t respond. So she went into her room and came back out to find our mom kneeling on the floor next to the couch. Our mom kept opening and closing her eyes, but not speaking, moving, or responding before going unconscious. My sister called 911, and by the time 12:30 rolled around, our entire family was rushing to Bartlett to be by her side. They told us our mom had suffered a severe stroke, in turn causing a severe brain bleed. The bleed is putting pressure on one side of the brain, which in turn caused her to lose function on the opposing side of her body. Our mom was life-flighted to Anchorage the same day, and it may be a few weeks or up to a month until we see her again. When we do, she won’t be the same, and that’s a reality we are going to have to get comfortable with. It’s taken mom 3 days to become more coherent, be able to open her eyes, and acknowledge our dad’s presence with her using her mobile arm/side of her body.
As of Friday 11/28/2025, they have tested for an arteriovenous malformation, which the doctors believe may have been the cause of the bleeding resulting in a stroke. Results are pending.
As of Sunday 11/30/2025
Our mom is being moved out of the ICU and Into a room at providence hospital. But she has a long road to recovery. Many that know us and know our mom know that she is completely deaf. She has been since birth. So it is crucial that she be around those that can understand her. Mom can’t use verbal communication yet, walk or move a significant amount of her affected body. As of now, mom won’t be home until February 2026 at the latest. Please help us reach out $1300.00 beginning goal with a $3000.00 total goal for travel, lodging and food.
We’d love to see our mom, hold her hand, hug her, and reassure her that we are alright while she heals. All babies need their momma, and we desperately want to be with ours. Anything helps, donations, sharing this post with others, or even donating Alaska airline miles (please PM for this! I’m not 100% sure how it works!)
Donations would cover travel expenses, Uber, a stay in a hotel room near the hospital, and food to feed ourselves.
