Help us Adopt a Baby

Hi! Our names are Patrick and Amara Terry! We are a young couple and currently have 3 dogs and 11 chickens! And we are working on adopting our first child. 

Our adoption story began 5 years ago when we decided we wanted to start trying to have kids. I have Cystic Fibrosis and while I am very healthy, was not expecting it to be easy. Within the first 6 months, we knew that this wasn't going to be an easy journey. Over the next five years we went through so many doctors visits and treatments. We had to switch doctors twice when we lived in TN and the testing process would begin all over again. It was very difficult on me physically and emotionally. Between the two doctors there wasn't a clear answer as to what was wrong. One doctor said I didn't produce good eggs, the other said I had low ovarian reserve and polyps on my uterus (getting those removed was...something else lol), and IVF was suggested. When we moved to Texas, the anxiety over starting over again with a new doctor was very great. This doctor seemed to think that we would be successful with IUIs and so we started again. For another year we went through treatment after treatment with no results. Again IVF was suggested. I had never wanted to do IVF. The hormones in our medical IUIs had been very hard for my CF and I would have rather spent that money on adopting a baby than to continue to do treatments that were not successful. After discussing it and all of the other options out there to have "our" baby, we decided it was worth more to us to adopt than to continue treatments. And so here we are! 

 

Adoption is important to us because, well, we want to be parents and give a child all the love and happiness that they deserve! When we couldn't have kids of our own, it was devastating, but we still have a lot of love to give and want to give a child all the love that they deserve!

 

The money will go to paying for the agency, the social workers, helping the birth mom if needed, travel expenses, getting baby items, paying the lawyers, paying for the home studies, and any other expenses needed to finalize the adoption.
