Climb for a Cause: Help Chuka Bring Hope to Children in Peru

My name is Chuka Okoroigwe, and I’m a Year 9C student at St Edward’s College, Liverpool. I’m reaching out with an open heart and a deep sense of purpose. In 2026, I’ve been given a life-changing opportunity to travel to Peru with my school and Charity Camps International — a trip with a powerful purpose: to support poor and vulnerable children who are facing daily struggles with poverty, lack of clean water, education, and healthcare. This isn’t just a journey. It’s a mission. I’ve called it "Climb for a Cause: Peru", because together, we can help lift others up — one step at a time.

Why Peru? 

Peru is a country in deep need. In rural areas like Moray, communities live without basic sanitation, clean water, or safe sewage systems. The river that runs through the village is listed by the Peruvian government as at high risk for health and environmental issues. Families struggle daily with issues we can barely imagine — things like dirty water, poor hygiene, disease, and food insecurity. Peru has a long way to go to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for clean water, education, and health. 

Why I’m Going?

I don’t want to just read about these problems. I want to be part of the solution. This trip is my chance to step out of my comfort zone and stand with others who need support. I’ll be involved in hands-on work — building, teaching, supporting, and most importantly, listening. This journey will not only help those in need — it will shape me into a more compassionate, thoughtful person. It will be an eye-opening experience, one that helps me understand just how lucky we are — and how much of a difference we can make when we choose to care. 

The Goal

 To take part, I need to raise £5,000. This amount covers travel, supplies, and the direct support we’ll be delivering to vulnerable communities. It’s a big target, but I truly believe that with your help, I can get there. Every pound brings me closer to Peru — and closer to changing lives.
