Hi my name is Patricia Brugioni, and I live in Chicago Illinois, and I’m raising money for my friend Walaa and her family, to help them survive in Gaza. I’ll let Walaa explain their situation in her own words.
Hello, my name is Walaa. I am 31 years old, married, and have two young children. My children are 5 years old and 2 years old, and my youngest child suffers constantly from illnesses and skin rashes due to polluted water and insects spreading everywhere because of accumulated garbage.
We have witnessed the worst a person can experience… we were subjected to violent bombing, and my children and I were able to survive, but my husband was injured by shrapnel from the bombing. He is still suffering from severe pain and is no longer able to work and support us.
Our house in northern Gaza, in the Karama area, was in good condition before, but since October 7, everything was destroyed. We have been displaced more than once, and each time our suffering increases. We are now without stable shelter, and my children live in constant fear. I feel helpless in meeting their needs and easing their suffering.
Food prices are rising day by day, and the blockade on Gaza makes it very difficult to secure even the most basic necessities. All I dream of is safety for my children and a future for them away from fear and hunger.
