We are the Sydney Aid Relief Project — a group of Sydney-based women and close friends currently connected with two war-displaced families who have endured unimaginable hardship and shown incredible resilience.

With permission to start this GoFundMe, we are sharing the stories of:

• Maryam, a 4½-year-old girl currently battling kidney failure and an underdeveloped bladder, and

• sisters Yara and Rose, who have lost everything and are faced with displacement as their family of 8 attempt to rebuild in the south.

Our goal is to shed light on the challenges they face every day and to raise funds that will provide them with food, clean water, medical care, and other basic necessities during this incredibly difficult time.

Your support can make a meaningful difference in their lives, bringing relief and hope where it’s needed most. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us move closer to giving these families safety, dignity, and stability.

✨ Maryam's Family ✨

We found Maryam's family through an online video where her mother was interviewed, pleading for her daughter Maryam to recieve the medical care she desperately needs. Maryam's mother only speaks Arabic, so we rely heavily on translations to communicate with her.

"I am a mother of 4 children: Amira, Al-Ain, Maryam, and Khaled. We live in the south in a tented settlement. Our lives are in danger. My daughter Maryam is 4 and a half years old and has been ill since birth. She has kidney damage, an underdeveloped bladder, sever urinary relfux to the kidneys, and an enlarged ureter. She has no sensation when urinating and needs diapers. The cost is very expensive, over $110 USD. She needs treatment, many operations, and travel outside the country. The doctors have warned me of kidney failure if she does not go abroad for treatment within two months. I am a mother and I do not want to lose my daughter. I am supporting my family. My husband has a fractured pelvis and an __ in his urinary tract. Help us. Help Mariam and help my children so they can live like the rest of the children in the world."

انا ام ل 4اطفال أميرة والين ومريم وخالد ونعيش في جنوب في مواصي بخيمه وحياتنا بخطر وابنتي مريم عمرها 4سنوات ونص ومريضه منذ الولادة عندها دمور بالكليه والمثانة غير مكتملة وارجاع بول شديد ع الكليتين وتضخم بالحوالب وماعندها احساس بالبول وتحتاج إلى حفاضات وسعرها غالي جدا فوق 110دولار وتحتاج إلى علاج وتحتاج إلى عمليات كثيرة وتحتاج إلى سفر خارج البلاد حذروني الدكاترة من فشل كلوي لو ماطلعت تتعالج خارج البلاد خلال شهرين وانا ام مابدي افقد بنتي وانا اعيل اسرتي وزوجي متصاوب بكسر بالحوض والزر وعنده شريان بالبول مقطوع ساعدونا ساعدوه مريم وساعدوه اطفالي ليعيشوا كباقي اطفال العالم

✨ Yara & Rose's Family ✨

Yara reached out to me online in a brave attempt to save her family. They have already lost their family home. After the most recent air raids in the north, they have made the desperate trek to the south. Like many, they could not take everything with them. Yara and her family are struggling to find even a small plot of land where they can rest, and even then, being able to have continual finances to satisfy a landlord is extremely difficult. Overcrowding from evacuating the northern city and the soaring cost of rebuilding have made securing a safe place for their family nearly impossible.
