My name is Rebecca, and I’m Link’s auntie. I am managing this GoFundMe to help ease some of the burdens our family is facing while we focus on caring for Link.
Our hearts were shattered when our bright, funny, and loving 11-year-old nephew, Link, was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). In a matter of days, his world — and ours — changed forever.
Link is currently receiving care at BC Children’s Hospital, where he bravely began this unexpected and life-altering journey. In approximately one month, he will be transferred to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton to continue his specialized pediatric cancer treatment — a journey that is expected to last 3 years.
While Canada’s healthcare system covers medical treatment, it does not cover the enormous out-of-pocket costs that come with caring for a seriously ill child far from home. Link’s family will need to relocate to Edmonton, leaving behind work, school, community, and normal life so they can remain close to him during chemotherapy, hospital stays, and recovery.
This fundraiser has been created to help support the very real costs that come with this transition, including temporary housing, travel between provinces, parking, meals, time away from work, and day-to-day living expenses. These added pressures can be overwhelming — especially when a family’s only priority should be being present for their child.
Any donation, share, or message of encouragement helps lift that burden and allows Link’s parents to focus on what matters most: being by his side, supporting his strength, and holding onto hope.
Thank you for standing with Link and our family during this incredibly difficult chapter. Your kindness reminds us that even in the hardest moments, we are not alone.
Link is a fighter — and with your support, he will never have to fight alone.
