On May 25, 2025, Joseph D. Sheppard, retired military veteran, tragically passed away while scuba diving in West Palm Beach, leaving behind a legacy of love for his wife, Jeanette Sheppard, daughter Jenna, and son Jared. Over the past year, Jeanette's family has faced significant hardships. In August 2024, their home was severely flooded by a storm, and two months later, it was flooded again, resulting in the destruction of their home and a travel trailer they had purchased to facilitate rebuilding. Consequently, Jeanette and her family lost a lifetime of belongings and memories, necessitating a move into a small two-bedroom apartment, where they resided for seven months while concurrently paying a mortgage on a home they no longer possessed, in addition to rent on the apartment. Throughout this ordeal, they encountered difficulties with FEMA, Navy Federal, and their insurance company. Two weeks ago, Jeanette and Joe made the difficult decision to foreclose on their home and signed a lease on a four-bedroom residence. In light of Joe's untimely passing, Jeanette must now break the lease and secure a one- to two-bedroom apartment for herself and Jenna that is within her financial means. To make matters worse there is no life insurance policy for Joe to assist Jeanette and Jenna as they figure out this next chapter without their loved one. This family has endured a series of unfortunate events and merits some relief. Meanwhile, Jared is honoring his father's memory through his service at Lackland Basic Military Training.
