This is extremely hard to draft. Shane Furniss is always the first person to help anyone but is always the last person to ask for any kind of help. Saturday, November 4th, Shane fell at work and suffered a severe blow to his head. He landed himself in the ICU with 2 brain bleeds and a fractured skull. The neurosurgeon was optimistic that the brain bleeds did not need intervention and monitored the progress with CT scans. After 2 days in ICU, he was released to inpatient observation. He is having difficulty walking, extreme dizziness and a raging migraine, no surprise there. He has been working with Physical Therapy daily regaining his strength and is less dizzy each day. Speech Therapy and Occupational therapy have also been working with him, working on his cognitive memory. He still has a tough road ahead. He will be released this week from the hospital and Home Health will be coming to his house for additional therapy at home. Brain injuries are so unpredictable and with him being a small business owner he has a lot of people relying on him, especially his family. Shane is a big provider for his family and with him being out of work, and in the hospital, it has caused a great amount of stress and worry. Creating this go found me has been extremely difficult to write- he and his family have created this as a last resort. There is no way to know when he can return to work because of the unpredictability of brain injuries. We are trying to salvage and maintain what he has worked so hard for all these many years to create and build.
