Hello! In January of this year, I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Matthew Grant Lingenfelter, Jr. His father and I worked hard to work through our personal issues and keep our family together. Unfortunately, we were unable to maintain a healthy relationship and decided to separate. He currently resides in Wisconsin, and the baby and I are in Colorado. I recently filed for custody of our son, and have learned that he has retained a lawyer in the matter. I was notified that they will be filing an emergency motion to gain full custody of our son, and have him “returned” to Wisconsin to be with his father.

I am a nursing mother who loves her son dearly. I have a nice home, a great career and the love and support of friends and family here in Colorado. I can’t imagine a judge would grant this, but I am fearful of the possibility. I would like to retain my own legal representation but do not have the means to do so as I have been on unpaid maternity leave for the last 3 months.

I am devastated that my son’s father is seeking to remove our son from my care. It breaks my heart that we are involved in such a mess.
