My name is Ryleigh. My fiancé, Lyle, and I have been together for 6 years, and we have a 3-and-a-half-year-old son together. We have lived together in Chico for the last 6 years. We are both fully employed, and our son goes to school 4 days a week. We have 2 cats and a dog.
Tuesday morning, 6/24/25, at 4:26 am, a 19-year-old drunk driver going southbound on Walnut Street at about 60 mph attempted to take a left turn onto W 9th Street and failed to do so. He crashed into the fire hydrant on our sidewalk, causing our yard to flood, before colliding with both of our parked vehicles in our driveway and into our front porch. I was awakened by the sound of the initial crash, which I thought was a tree falling on our house, until I heard my fiancé, Lyle, yelling, “Are you okay, man???” and pulling the young man from the driver's seat of the car. Lyle was standing in the exact spot where the car crashed 3 minutes prior to the incident. We are so lucky to be alive and must have a guardian angel watching over us.
Financially, we were not prepared for an emergency situation like this to happen and are now unable to drive either of our vehicles as they are inoperable, and car seats are no longer safe for use after they are involved in an accident. Without our vehicles or a car seat, we will not be able to go back and forth to work and school every day.
We are asking the community for help raising the funds to help us in our time of need. Absolutely anything that you can donate during this trying time would help us. We really need to raise the funds to replace our vehicles and car seats. Please find the kindness in your hearts to donate, share, and help our little family. Thank you.
