Hi - my name is Caitlin, and I was Y.M.'s asylum attorney. Mr. M was granted asylum in 2018 after suffering political persecution in his home country. Although he immediately began the process to bring his his wife and young children to join him, the combination of USCIS delays and the COVID pandemic meant that the family was not able to enter the U.S. until January 2023. Now the family is all together - and expecting a new little one to join! They are so thrilled to be reunited, yet the costs of settling a family and adjusting to life in the U.S. have been steep. His children are growing and need new clothes for the upcoming winter.
Mr. M is a remarkable individual, who was targeted, detained, and harmed because of his tribal group and political opinion. He speaks 5 languages and has worked tirelessly since arriving in the United States to win his asylum case and see his family again in safety.
All funds raised will be given to Mr. M, and used to pay for living expenses, healthcare, school supplies, baby necessities, and home furnishings.
* This fundraiser is organized in a personal context. All funds will be given directly to Mr. M and his family.
