The Memory Project: Art that Connects and Gives Back

Hello, I’m Laura Klein, the art teacher at Cripple Creek-Victor Schools. One of the things I love most about teaching art is helping students see how creativity can connect us to something bigger than ourselves. I believe deeply in the idea of art as service, using our talents to bring kindness, empathy, and hope into the world.

This year, my high school art students are taking part in The Memory Project, a global program that connects young artists with children living in orphanages around the world. Each of my students will create a portrait for one of these children, as well as a personal note, giving them a personal keepsake that reminds them they are seen, valued, and cared for.

As part of the project, we are raising funds to support the children and help cover the cost of delivering the portraits. Our goal is to send $20 for each portrait we create. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us make this possible.
