The Arts Hub is a community project aimed at bringing artists of all disciplines together in one place . A place where they can create, collaborate, inspire each other and build on their creative skill set in a place of inspiration, inclusivity, co-creation and support. Artists will have a place to practise the art they already do, and immerse themselves into a place where artists of all disciplines will reside and congregate with the view to collaborate, share and develop alongside each other. The Arts Hub aims to strengthen the arts community by bringing musicians, visual artists, dancers, acrobats, roving performers, costume makers, technicians, thespians, photographers, videographers, digital creators, artists and aspiring artists of all disciplines together with a purpose built facility offering rehearsal and teaching rooms, workshop and performance facilities, interactive rooms, art gallery, co-working office spaces, a cafe, art shop, instrument repair service centre and more!

The Arts Hub has been created by the Whitsunday Arts Alliance - a charity that aims to nurture and develop the arts community of the Whitsundays by providing the space for artists to grow and thrive by immersing themselves in a world of art produced by local artisans and creatives; and to fund community projects like individual artists endeavours and creative projects large and small, community events of all scales, and to offer mentorships and development programs to develop and inspire artists of the Whitsundays.

The Arts Hub and the Whitsunday Arts Alliance is important to this remote North Queensland region. There are amazing artists of all disciplines and many different small arts communities dotted throughout the Whitsundays. The Whitsunday Arts Alliance sees the Arts Hub as a way to bring those communities (and individuals) together so they can inspire each other by creating art together in a shared space and support each other by joining their disciplines, skills and passions to elevate each other through co-creative collaborations and a shared network of art enthusiasts that follow their creative journey. The Arts Hub will give artists the opportunity to explore different ways to put their art forward through those collaborations, and to tap into collective audiences across the many different arts communities in the region that may not have had the opportunity to see them before.

The funds raised from the soft opening will be used to pay the artists performing at the event, to give back to all the volunteers who have put in countless hours helping to set up the space and long term - we will need to sound proof rehearsal rooms, fit the place out with security systems, digital locking systems, data and booking systems, extended fit outs - erecting new and extending existing walls, removing the existing floating ceiling and replacing with sound proofed ceilings and walls on separated rooms, purchasing equipment for rehearsal and performance spaces and for the ongoing development of the facility whether it be upgrading technical systems or hardware (staging etc). Additional funding will be concentrated on community art projects like funding musicians albums, tours and promotions, art exhibitions and art development programs from instrument lessons, to music business management, to theatre production, costume creation, script writing, song writing, social media management, technical skills etc. And to fund large and small community events that elevate the artistic and performative offerings of the Whitsundays.
