Greetings everyone!
- My name is James Cope, and I am reaching out to you today with a humble request for support. I am a father and husband of a wonderful family, who have been separated for nearly 18 months and counting, but look forward to being reunited before the year’s end. We had been living in New Zealand together as a family for nearly 20 years, doing Christian missionary work, with me working as the pastor of a church and my wife working in healthcare. But it was time for a new chapter of our lives to begin.
- This is because, once my children became young adults, we all agreed it was time for us to return to my home country of the United States of America. While New Zealand is beautiful and we were blessed in all the years that we lived there, we felt that moving would give our family more options and opportunities for the future, especially for our children, who are pursuing tertiary education. Therefore, it was decided in March of 2024 to return to my home country in two phases. I arrived ahead with one of my sons to get settled first, securing jobs and a home. Along the way, we have met a wonderful church community who have helped us get settled here in the state of Tennessee. My son is now working, attending university on a scholarship, while I work as a substitute teacher.
- However, this is where we unfortunately began to face various problems, and this is where we need your support. We had originally anticipated that my wife and my other son would be able to come late last year as part of the second phase. You see, while my other son, who remains in New Zealand, is an American citizen and is able to come freely, my wife and daughter are unfortunately not able to do so yet, as they are only British citizens. So, before I moved to the States, my wife and daughter applied for a visa that would allow both of them to receive a green card to work and live here in the United States. But the immigration system is not what it once was, and now, after 20 years of marriage, we have found ourselves apart for nearly 18 months, as previously mentioned. It has been tough as I dearly miss my wife and family, but we trust in God that we will be together again soon.
- Thankfully, we have received news that the final process has begun, and there is a real possibility of my wife and daughter receiving their visa this September. Unfortunately, we are now facing a significant financial challenge. This is because the extensive visa waiting time has thrown a spanner in the works. Since we had anticipated that they would be here late last year, we have had to use up our past savings to make it to this point in time. Fortunately, we have received help from friends and family when needed to make it this far, but we are seeking further help to finally bring us all together once more.
- You see, my wife’s wages depend on the number of clients, causing her pay to fluctuate, so our combined earnings are not enough to bring us together again, as my current job has a lower salary than my old one. This makes it challenging for us to earn enough money for airfare and other expenses associated with the move for the rest of my family. Our main priority is the airfare costs, which will be around $2,500 - 3,500 USD for three people, based on the current seasonal changes. We will also need around $1,000 - 1,500 USD for shipping our family items and belongings, and another $1,500 USD for any immigration fees and associated costs for the move.
- Your generosity to us will forever be remembered, and we will always remain grateful to all of you for helping us to reach our goal of being reunited once more. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference in our lives. Your support will not only ease the financial burden but will also fill our hearts with gratitude and hope. From the bottom of my heart, I truly thank all of you for taking the time to read my message. Thank you for any kind of support you can give us, whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply keeping us in your thoughts, praying for us to be reunited again. Thank you, and may God bless each and every single one of you!
With hope and gratitude, God bless you all!
