Hi, I’m Tessa, and on 11 July I’ll be swimming 5km along the River Adur in West Sussex to raise money for my niece, Millie.

My sister Bella and her daughter Millie both have a rare genetic condition that weakens their connective tissue and affects the heart. Bella underwent open‑heart surgery a few years ago, and Millie is now facing open‑heart surgery herself in just a few weeks’ time.

Millie turns 14 in May, around the time of her surgery, and will also be missing her favourite family tradition, “O’Brien Fest”. She loves swimming and exploring new places, and I’d love to give her something positive to look forward to once she’s recovered.

All money raised will go directly to Bella, with the aim of helping them take a much‑needed family holiday once Millie has healed, a chance to rest, recover and make some happier memories together.
